   I. ABOUT SOUTHWEST JIAOTONG UNIVERSITY (SWJTU)

Founded in 1896 as the “Imperial Chinese Railway College”, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) is the first institution of higher engineering education in China. It has become known as “the cradle of railway engineers in China”.

SWJTU was founded to train China’s own railway engineers.    II. PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

   1. Length of Program: 4 Years (maximum 6 years)

2. Instruction Language: English/Chinese (applicants selecting the instruction language as Chinese shall provide the certificate of HSK level 4 or above).

3. Program Majors:

Railway Engineering (B.E.) Traffic and Transportation (B.E.)

   3. Objectives: The program is dedicated to cultivating international talents with solid theoretical foundation and outstanding practical ability in the field of transportation and railway engineering.

4. Program Features: Relying on the research and academic reputation of Southwest Jiaotong University's Rail Traffic Discipline, this program creates a demand-orientated talent cultivation and delivery system.

On one hand, the program focuses on talents cultivation for the key railway projects, while on the other hand, the program also delivers high-quality professionals in the field of transportation and railway engineering.

   III. FEES, FUNDING AND COSTS

1. Application Fee: CNY 400 (Non-refundable)

2. Tuition Fees : CNY 23,000/YEAR (Chinese-taught)

      CNY 35,000/YEAR (English -taught)

   VI. APPLICATION AND ADMISSION

   1. Eligibility:

· Citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China.

· Under the age of 25 and with good health status.

· High-school Diploma

   2. Time of Application: January to June 30, 2024 (If you are applying a scholarship, please follow the scholarship application procedures)

   3. Application Documents:

   All documentation must be complete, true, and correct in Chinese or English.

   Please carefully prepare your passport which must be valid at least 6 months before the visa is obtained.

Notarized Highest Diploma

Prospective diploma recipients must submit official proof of student status or expected graduation date by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

Notarized Academic Transcripts (either in Chinese or English)

Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy)

The original copy should be kept by the applicant.

The form is uniformly printed by Chinese healthy quarantine departments. It must be written in English and can be downloaded from Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Click to download ). 

Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid.

Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

Financial Guarantee (For self-sponsored Applicant ONLY)

An official letter from a bank or financial institution certified by local Chinese Embassy or Consulate General is required. Funds must show at least: one academic year tuition.

Language Proficiency

Students applying for CSC scholarship program must provide the certificate of the HSK Level 4 or above.

Students who select the instruction language of English and are non-native English speakers must have good English proficiency of listening, speaking, reading and writing and are able to communicate academic study with the teachers smoothly and finish degree study in English (please provide the copy of TOFEL, IELTS or other English skill certificate if the applicant has).

Non-Criminal Record Report

Non-Criminal Record Report provided by authorities of the country or permanent residence of the applicant. If the applicant is unable to provide this document, as a substitute, the applicant could contact the applied university to sign a non-criminal record commitment.

Statutory Guardians Documents (For Applicant Under the age of 18 ONLY)

Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant documents about their statutory guardians in China.
