Southwest Jiaotong University has set up a sino-foreign cooperative education institution without a legal entity status and three sino-foreign education cooperation projects.

Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Institution: SWJTU-Leeds Joint School

The SWJTU-Leeds Joint School, approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education, is a partnership between the University of Leeds and Southwest Jiaotong University to provide high-achieving students in China with the opportunity to benefit from an outstanding education and an exceptional student experience.The Joint School is based at Southwest Jiaotong’s Xipu campus in the city of Chengdu.

Four programmes combine the best aspects of the UK and the Chinese education systems, ensuring that when you graduate you will be uniquely qualified to work effectively within industries around the world.

Sino-Foreign Education Cooperation Projects

1. Southwest Jiaotong University and Georgia State University(GSU) Joint undergraduate programme in biology

This is a four-year programme. Students will study at the Xipu Campus of Southwest Jiaotong University for three years, and those whose performance meets the requirements of GSU will study at the university for one year. Those who complete the program and meet the graduation and degree requirements of the two universities will be awarded double degrees from SWJTU and GSU.

2. Southwest Jiaotong University and Oklahoma State University (OSU) Joint undergraduate programme in fire protection and safety engineering technology

This is a four-year program. Students will study at the Emei Campus of Southwest Jiaotong University for three years, and those whose performance meets the requirements of Oklahoma State University will study at the university for one year. Those who complete the program and meet the graduation and degree requirements of the two universities will be awarded double degrees from SWJTU and OSU.

3. Joint postgraduate nondestructive testing program by Southwest Jiaotong University and Dresden International University in Germany

This program adopts the “1.5+1” education model, under which students who finish their first semester of study at Southwest Jiaotong University go to Dresden International University to take degree and hands-on courses in nondestructive testing in the second and third semesters, and come back to Southwest Jiaotong University to finish the graduation thesis in the fourth and fifth semesters. Those who complete the program and meet the graduation and degree requirements of the two universities will be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma and the Certificate of Master’s Degree of Southwest Jiaotong University, and the Certificate of Master of Science Degree in Nondestructive Testing of Dresden International University
