About the Symposium

The Preparatory Conference of Symposium on Power Electronics & Electrical Drives (SPEED) was held in Beijing on August 8, 2005. It was initially sponsored by Zhejiang University, Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology and Beijing Jiaotong University, and later supported by six other ones including Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chongqing University, South China University of Technology and Wuhan University. The Articles of Association for the Symposium was ratified at the preparatory conference.

Held once a year, the Symposium aims at developing itself into a significant academic forum for the Discipline of Power Electronics and Power Drives in China’s colleges and universities. SPEED introduces the status quo and trends of the Discipline and deepens the understanding of the same in colleges and universities. At the Symposium, lectures on selected subjects are delivered, exchanges on academic reports made, and discussions held on the mid and long-term development of the Discipline. It has attracted eminent experts, scholars as well as teachers and students in colleges and universities, and become one of the most important academic forums for the Discipline among China’s colleges and universities.

In 2020, the Organizing Committee of SPEED consists of 19 well-known universities in China, including nine new member universities like Hunan University, China University of Mining and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, North China Electric Power University, Xi'an University of Technology, Hefei University of Technology, Northeast Electric Power University and Southeast University.
