30 Majors of SWJTU Have Entered the First Batch of Two 10,000-Plan for the Construction of First-class Undergraduate Majors

Recently, the Ministry of Education released the List of National and Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites in 2019. A total of 22 majors of our university have been evaluated as the national first-class major construction sites and 8 majors have been approved as the provincial first-class major construction sites (see the table for the list). The first batch of 4,054 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites were approved nationwide, of which 2,153 were applied by universities affiliated to the central government and 1,691 were approved, with an approval rate of 78.5%. In 2019, SWJTU had applied for 25 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, of which 22 were approved, with an approval rate of 88%, ranking first in the country and second in the number of approvals in the province.

The construction of national first-class majors is implemented in two steps: the major submitted has been determined as a national first-class undergraduate major construction point; the Ministry of Education organizes and carries out professional certification, and determines it as the first-class undergraduate major at the national level after the certification.

A major is the core carrier of undergraduate talent cultivation, and the construction of first-class undergraduate majors is an important measure to improve talent cultivation ability, strengthen the first-class undergraduate education and comprehensively revitalize undergraduate education. With professional certification as orientation, SWJTU will formulate a plan for first-class undergraduate major construction and spare no effort to build first-class majors. Taking the construction of first-class majors as an opportunity, it will also optimize major design, build quality culture, actively promote the construction of new engineering and liberal arts courses, and strive to improve the quality of talent training.
