Application Notice for SWJTU 2022
“Chengdu Government Scholarship” for International Students
In order to further push forward the educational exchange and cooperation between China and “the Belt and Road” countries, the city of Chengdu and its international sister cities (including the international friendly and cooperative cities, hereinafter referred to as “Sister Cities” collectively), as well as attract more international students to study in higher education institutions located in Chengdu City, Chengdu Municipal People’s Government sets up “Chengdu ‘Belt and Road’ Government Scholarship for International Students” and “Chengdu Government Scholarship for International Students from Sister Cities”. The application information is as follows:
1. Scholarship Types
(1) Chengdu “Belt and Road” Government Scholarship for International Students (here in after referred to as “Belt and Road” Scholarship)
(2) Chengdu Government Scholarship for International Students from Sister Cities (here in after referred to as Sister Cities Scholarship)

4. Eligibility
(1) Those who apply for doctoral degree programs in China should hold a master's degree or equivalent, excel in academic performance, and should be generally under the age of 40;
(2) Those who apply for master degree programs in China should hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent, excel in academic performance, and should be generally under the age of 35;
(3) Those who apply for bachelor degree programs in China should hold a high-school diploma, excel in academic performance, and should be generally under the age of 25;
(4) Applicants of “Belt and Road” Scholarship should have the nationality of countries along the routes of “Belt and Road” with valid passports. Please visit the website https://eng.yidaiyilu.gov.cn/info/iList.jsp?cat_id=10076 to check “the Belt and Road” countries;
(5) Applicants of Sister Cities Scholarship should be citizens from the sister cities with foreign nationalities, or should be born in or have studied, worked, or lived in the Sister Cities of Chengdu. Please check the List of Sister Cities in Attachment 1;
(6) Applicants shall be in good health without criminal record or record of violating rules and discipline, and have good academic performance;
(7) The applicant doesn’t obtain any other Chinese, Sichuan and Chengdu government scholarships for international students.
5. Scholarship Details
Ph.D. students: CNY 30,000/year, with the scholarship period of no more than 3 years.
Master students: CNY 25,000/year, with the scholarship period of no more than 3 years.
Bachelor students: CNY 20,000/year, with the scholarship period of no more than 4 years.
*Students shall participate in scholarship annual review. The scholarship is granted if students pass the annual review. If not, the scholarship will be canceled or terminated.

*All fees related shall be paid by students upon registration.

9. Application Procedures
(1) Online Registration: Register at the university application system: https://swjtu.17gz.org/
(2) Online Application: Log in with the registered account, choose “Chengdu Government Scholarship” and the program that you plan to apply; submit all required documents according to the application materials list to finish the application procedures;
(3) Preliminary Review: International Student Office will conduct a preliminary review of the application materials. The unqualified materials will be returned and students need to submit them again;
(4) Pay Application Fee: International students need to pay application fee of CNY400 (non-refundable) online within 3 days after passing the preliminary review;
(5) Waiting for Admission Result:After paying the application fee online, admission process starts. Please pay attention to your email. Students may be interviewed by the academic school;
(6) Admission: The admission result will come out in July.
10. Application Materials
(1) A Copy of the Applicant’s Passport: Please carefully prepare your passport which must be valid at least 6 months before the visa is obtained;
(2) Notarized Highest Diploma: Prospective diploma recipients must submit official proof of the student status or expected graduation date by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;
(3) Academic Transcripts (in Chinese or English): Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;
(4) Study Plan or Research Proposal (in Chinese or English): For Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree programs, s minimum of 800 words in Chinese or English; for bachelor degree programs, a minimum of 200 words in Chinese or English;
(5) Recommendation Letters (in Chinese or English): Applicants for Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree programs must submit two recommendation letters issued in 2021 or 2022 in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors of related fields;
(6) Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy): The original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form is uniformly printed by Chinese healthy quarantine departments. It must be written in English. The physical examinations must cover all items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Click to download). Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months;
(7) Non-Criminal Record Report: Non-Criminal Record Report provided by authorities of the country or permanent residence of the applicant, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application. If the applicant is unable to provide this document, as a substitute, the applicant could contact the applied university to sign a non-criminal record commitment;
(8) Students selecting the instruction language of Chinese must provide the certificate of the HSK Level 5 or above; students who select the instruction language of English and are non-native English speakers must hold excellent English skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and are able to smoothly communicate specialized research with the supervisors and finish the study in English. Please provide the copy of TOFEL, IELTS or other English skill certificate if the applicant has;
(9) Statutory Guardians Documents: Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant documents about their statutory guardians in China;
(10) Application Form for Chengdu “Belt and Road” Government Scholarship for International Students (Attachment 2) or Application Form for Chengdu Government Scholarship for International Students from Sister Cities (Attachment 3).
(11) If applying for Sister Cities Scholarship, applicants shall provide Identity Confirmation Letter (Attachment 4). The official confirmation letter should be issued by related departments/authorities (in charge of international affairs) in Sister Cities.
11. Important Notes
(1) The applicant who passes the preliminary review needs to pay application fees of RMB 400, which will not be refunded whether the applicant is finally admitted or not;
(2) E-mail application or hard-copy application will not be accepted;
(3) Please provide the correct E-mail address and mailing address. Every piece of important information will be confirmed via E-mail. Please make sure to check email every day;
(4) Application materials must be clear, authentic, and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded documents. For those who falsify documents or qualifications, their qualifications for application, admission or student status will be abolished immediately according to relevant regulations.
