Application Notice for 2022-2023 Chinese Government Scholarship Sino-US Degree Program

In order to deepen the cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and US higher education, Chinese Government sets up a Scholarship Sino-US degree program. The program provides full scholarship to qualified students from the United States to study degree program in China.

II. Supporting Categories, Duration and Instruction Language

l Bachelor's Degree Students (Chinese): 4 or 5 academic years

l Master's Degree Students (English/Chinese): 3 academic years

l Doctoral Degree Students (English/Chinese): 4 academic years

III. Eligibility:

Applicants must hold valid passport of the United States of America, and be in good health.

l Be a high-school diploma holder and no more than 25 when applying for the bachelor programs;

(Bachelor degree applicants who are ethnic Chinese need to supply more documents according to the No. 50 Documents, 2018 published by China MOE)

l Be a bachelor’s degree holder and no more than 35 when applying for the master’s programs;

l Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs.


IV. Application Documents:

1. Notarized highest diploma: Prospective diploma recipients must submit official proof of student status or expected graduation date by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

2. Academic transcripts (in Chinese or English): Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

3. A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English): This should be a minimum of 200 words for the bachelor degree program applicants and 800 words for master or Ph.D. program applicants.

4. A Copy of applicant’s passport: Please carefully plan your passport being valid at least 6 months before the visa is obtained.

5. Two Recommendation Letters (in Chinese or English): Applicants for Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree programs must submit two recommendation letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors of related fields (ONLY 2021 and 2022 letters are accepted).

6. A CD of your own works (only required for arts students): Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of their own musical works. Applicants for the fine arts programs must submit a CD of their own works which include two sketches, two color paintings and two other works.

7. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant documents about their statutory guardians in China.

8. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy): The original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form is uniformly printed by Chinese healthy quarantine departments. It must be written in English and can be downloaded here. The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

9. Language Proficiency Certificate: Applicants applying for bachelor degree programs must provide the certificate of HSK Level 5 or above.

Applicants applying for master/Ph.D. degree programs: Students selecting the instruction language of Chinese must provide the certificate of HSK Level 4 or above; Students who select the instruction language of English and are non-native English speakers must hold excellent English skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and are able to smoothly communicate specialized research with the supervisors and finish the study in English. Please provide the copy of TOFEL, IELTS or other English skill certificate if the applicant has.

10. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English).

11. Non-Criminal Record Report: provided by authorities of the country or permanent residence of the applicant. Non-Criminal Record Report (If the applicant is unable to provide this document, as a substitute, the applicant could negotiate with the applied university to sign a non-criminal record commitment).
