The final competition of China International College Students Innovation Competition 2025 (CICSIC) was held at Zhengzhou University from October 12th to 15th. With four projects progressing to the finals, the University secured one national gold prize, three silver prizes and ten bronze prizes in the competition, a result that stands as the best performance in its history.
The 14 nationally decorated projects span all competition tracks and groups, covering the Higher Education Main Track (including undergraduate, graduate, and international groups), the Industry Track (including university-industry collaboration and technology transfer groups) and the “Youth Red Journey” Track.
The gold award winning project, entitled “Listen to the Sound, Steady the Course: A Health Monitoring System for High-Speed Transport Equipment Based on Ultrasonic Stress Detection”, was supervised by Professor Gou Guoqing from the School of Materials Science and Engineering.
Since its launch in March, the university has rolled out a series of activities, including a university-wide kick-off meeting, school-level information sessions, and expert consultations. Through these comprehensive and multi-channel efforts, the number of projects and participants all hit a record high with 1,475 registered teams, 2,365 projects submitted, and over 20,000 participants. After university-level preliminary, semi-final and final rounds and provincial-level online review and final rounds, the university has won the second prize and 15 gold prizes in Sichuan province. Notably, the entries in the Higher Education and Industry Tracks have been recommended up to the full quota for the national competition.

As the highest-level, largest-scale and most influential national innovation event for college students, this year’s competition has attracted 24.43 million participants and 6.19 million projects from 5,673 universities in 161 countries and regions. The proportion of gold awards is less than one in ten thousand.
