SWJTU and Chengdu sign agreement to step up cooperation

On June 9, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) and Chengdu Municipal People’s Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement, namely Agreement on Comprehensively Strengthening the Strategic Cooperation Between the Municipality and University, aiming at an all-round cooperation in aspects of scientific and technological innovation, talent training and industrial development.


An economic circle will be soon developed to encompass the city clusters around the two municipalities of Chengdu and Chongqing. In response, both the University and Chengdu vow to collaborate in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, establishment of science and technology innovation platforms, introduction of innovative talents in an all-round way, to shape Chengdu into a City of Science in western China, accelerate the building of a nationally influential innovation center of science and technology, and create growth poles and impetus for high quality development.

According to the agreement, both parties will join hands in speeding up the establishment of “Dynamic Simulation Platform for Polymorphic Coupling Rail Transit” and other national major innovation platforms, and expediting the implementation and introduction of major projects, such as new generation low- and medium-speed magnetic levitation line and new urban rail transit test lines. In addition, the University and City will continuously implement the ownership reform of job-related scientific and technological achievements, and strive to develop the “National Sichuan-Tibet Railway Technology Innovation Center” and Southwest Jiaotong University into key scientific research platforms of this Country.

With collaborative efforts, Southwest Jiaotong University and Chengdu Municipal People’s Government will integrate their resources and pursue innovative development for mutual benefits and win-win results.
