SWJTU's International Journal Won the First JCR Impact Factor of 6.3

The international journal Railway Engineering Science (RES) sponsored by Southwest Jiaotong University won the first impact factor of JIF=6. 3 on June 28th, according to the 2023 Journal Citation ReportsTM (JCR) officially released by Clarivate Analytics. According to JCI, RES ranks 14th among 67 journals in the disciplinary category of “TRANSPORTATION SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY”, a core collection of Web of Science (ranking first among 28 ESCI journals in this discipline), and ranks in Q1 area.

Academician ZHAI Wanming acts as the chief editor of RES which was founded in 2020 and is currently edited by 34 top experts in the field of rail transit. Published in OA on the international platform of Springer Nature, the Journal aims to establish itself as a world-class one in the field of rail transit, focusing on the frontier hot spots in the research fields of high-speed railway, heavy-load technology, maglev transportation, new urban rail transit, ultra-high speed transportation of vacuum pipeline, etc., and covering the research progress of major basic theories and key technological innovations of rail transit engineering science.

As the first English academic journal of rail transit in China, RES has published a large number of high-quality papers by high-influence scholars and top experts, drawing the attention and support of scholars in the field of rail transit around the world. The academic quality and international influence of the journal continue to rise, and it has been included in important international databases such as ESCI, Scopus, DOAJ, INSPEC, WJCI and Ei Compendex. In addition, RES was continuously selected into the List of Excellent Academic Journals with International Influence in China from 2020 to 2022, and jumped from the 57th place in 2021 to the 6th place in 2022.

According to the 2022 Citation Index recently released by Scopus Database, the CiteScore of RES is 8.6 (SJR 2022=1. 209, SNIP 2022=3. 097) in 2022, which is 145.7% higher than that in 2021. Notably, RES ranks in Q1 area among five related disciplinary categories, especially in the top 10% such as Engineering: Computational Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering, manifesting the excellent academic quality of this journal.
