From September 18 to 22, "the Advanced Study Program of Global Sustainable Transport Cultural Exchange Project (2024)" was held on the campus of Southwest Jiaotong University. The program was sponsored by the Ministry of Transport and hosted by the Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center. The University, under the support from the Department of Transportation of Sichuan Province, co-hosted the Advanced Study Program in Sichuan.
29 senior railway officials from 23 different countries participated in the Advanced Study Program. They learned about China’s sustainable transport development experiences and achievements through site visits in different cities such as Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Chengdu, aspiring to disseminate innovative transport concepts and to promote cultural exchanges and global sustainable development.
On September 18, at the opening ceremony for the Study Program in Sichuan held on Xipu campus, director from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges extended a warm welcome to the participants, and introduced the explorations and practice of the University in transportation and sustainable innovation.
After the ceremony, the participants toured the University's Research Center for Wind Engineering, the National Key Laboratory for Rail Transit Vehicle Systems, and the world's first high-temperature superconducting high-speed maglev engineering prototype and its test line, gaining insights into the University’s achievements in transportation and sustainable innovation.
During their stay in Chengdu, the group visited the Chengdu International Railway Port in Qingbaijiang District, the Civil Aviation Flight University of China, Shudao Investment Group Co., Ltd., the Chengmian Smart Construction Base, the Sichuan Transportation Operations Control Center, etc., from which they eyewitnessed the accomplishments in integrated transportation, smart transportation and mobility, and the Belt and Road Initiative in Chengdu City and Sichuan Province.
