The School of Mathematics at Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) is originated from the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics at Tangshan Institute of Railway, which was founded in 1958. Now, the school of mathematics has doctoral discipline of mathematics and master discipline of statistics. It is currently one of the most recognized schools in mathematics and statistics in China. There are currently 136 faculties, nearly 700 undergraduate students, and over 200 graduate students in the school.

Main research fields of our group include:

1. Geometry and topology;

2. Algebra, Algebraic Coding;

3. Functional Analysis, Partial Differential Equation, Dynamic System;

4. Machine Learning, Data Mining, Numerical Analysis, Optimization theory and algorithm;

5. Stochastic Analysis, Financial Statistics, Biostatistics.

In the future, the School of Mathematics will keep promoting the construction of disciplines of pure mathematics, and focus on the cultivation and development of applied mathematics, computational mathematics and data science. Our goal is to build a School of Mathematics featured on computational mathematics, applied statistics and data science.

Main Responsibilities:

Applications are invited for positions of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The appointee is expected to teach courses and do research in School of Mathematics.

About You

We are seeking a candidate who has the following qualifications:

Essential

1. Ph.D in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics.

2. The candidate will have an outstanding research record in Pure Mathematics (Combinatorics, Algebra, Functional Analysis, Partial Differential Equation), Applied Mathematics (Machine Learning, Data Mining, Numerical Analysis, Optimization theory and algorithm), Statistics (Stochastic Analysis, Financial Statistics, Biostatistics) and should be able to offer specialized courses for graduates and undergraduates.

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support

Successful candidates will be offered a competitive remuneration and welfare benefits. A scientific research start-up fund will be provided as well according to the discipline.

1. Type and length of contract

The first contract is usually 3-5 years long. At the end of the first contract, the performance will be evaluated to determine whether to renew the contact or follow the tenure-track.

2. Range of salaries

For associate professor, the range will be ¥200,000-300,000 per year.

For professor, the range will be no less than ¥300,000 per year.

3. Other support

Scientific research startup fund: ¥300,000-400,000 (Science and Engineering), ¥150,000 - 200,000 (Humanities and Social Sciences)
