Founded in 1896 as the “Imperial Chinese Railway College”, SWJTU is one of China’s earliest higher education institutions with world-class engineering programmes. Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) is now recruiting international talents from all over the world to promote its internationalization, teaching and research levels. The University offers c challenging posts coupled with generous remunerations and benefits. In addition, you may enjoy China’s most favorable living conditions here in Chengdu, a metropolitan in Southwest China famous for its cultural heritage and modern resplendency.

School of Physical Science and Technology (SPST) at Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) is originated from the general physics teaching and research section in 1948. After the developing process of the department of applied physics, school of science, SPST has become a harmonious developed teaching and research school with the combination of basic teaching and professional talent training, the combination of the basic research and applied research, and the combination of science and technology. In SPST, the academic education system covers three levels, including doctor degree, master degree and undergraduate degree, where two undergraduate majors and directions are applied physics and electronic information science and technology. Besides, SPST has one first-level doctoral and master discipline of Physics and one first-level master discipline of Electronics Science and Technology. In addition, there are many research groups consisted of high pressure science and technology, electromagnetic field and microwave technology, high power microwave technology, fusion science, photoelectric engineering and nondestructive testing, theoretical physics and quantum optoelectronics.

Currently, three research teams invites applications for academic positions. Below is the specific information.

Gas Sensors

Materials Physics Team including 3 professors,3 associate professors and 5 lecturer. The team mainly focuses on the preparation and growth mechanism exploration of thin film materials, nanomaterials and new energy materials, and further the design and functional application of new sensor devices. The team has a complete material and device preparation laboratory, as well as a high-performance computer server cluster. A number of research results have been made in the preparation of new functional materials, Raman spectroscopy surface enhancement, material structure and performance prediction under extreme conditions, computer chip heat dissipation, thermoelectric material design, etc., and many high-quality research papers have been published.

Main Responsibilities:

The department is searching for excellent candidates to develop a world-leading research program in gas sensors, i.e. new gas sensors whose properties show highly sensitive and selective. The candidate will have an outstanding research record in sensors, with a strong focus on applications and related technologies. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are expected.

Astrophysics, Space Science, and Solar Physics

The Institute of Astro-particle physics was founded in 2020. Its history can be traced back to 1989 when, under the leadership of Professor Shanqing Jiao, the cosmic ray and astrophysics group of Southwest Jiaotong University joined the Tibet ASγ international collaboration and became one of the main construction members. A series of discoveries have been made by the ASγ experiment. Currently the group has 16 faculties, including 4 professors, 3 associated professor, and 9 assistant professors. The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) is a new generation air-shower experiment targeting at a deep investigation of the “High Energy Universe", and the construction of the whole observatory will be completed by the end of 2021. The Institute of Astro-particle physics is one of the key members of LHAASO, and will continuously play an important role in its operation and scientific discoveries.

Main research fields of our group include:

1. Cosmic ray physics with LHAASO experiment

2. Research on new detection technology and instrument

3. High energy astrophysics

4. The correlations between cosmic rays and thunderstorm episodes

5. Very high energy emission from GRBs

Main Responsibilities:

Applications are invited for positions of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The appointee is expected to teach courses and do research in SPST.

Electromagnetics

Antennas and Propagation Team including 2 professors,3 associate professors and 1 lecturer. The team mainly focuses on antenna theory and design, radio wave propagation, electromagnetic compatibility and computational electromagnetics. The team is equipped with a far field microwave anechoic chamber as well as related instruments including microwave vector network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, oscillograph, and high-performance computer server cluster. A number of research results have been made in the process of funded projects and many high-quality research papers have been published.

Main Responsibilities:

The department is searching for excellent candidates to develop a world-leading research program in electromagnetics, such as antennas, radio wave propagation, electromagnetic compatibility, electromagnetic scattering, and computational electromagnetics. Candidates with an outstanding research record with regard to electromagnetics are desired. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are also expected.
