National Base for the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Modern Rail Transit Vehicle Design and Safety Assessment Technology

Leveraging the State Key Laboratory of Traction Power, the National Base for the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Modern Rail Transit Vehicle Design and Safety Assessment Technology (hereinafter referred to as "the national base"), in which Prof. Kang Guozheng, a leading talent of the "Ten Thousand Talents Program", Distinguished Professor of Chang Jiang Scholars and a winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars serves as Director, is equipped with a high-quality research team led by academicians and Chang Jiang Scholars where senior, middle-aged and young members collaborate with each other. The national base, with high-speed railway, high-speed maglev transportation, heavy haul railway and new urban rail transit as the research objects, has carried out fundamental researches and technological innovations on basic science and key technology. The research directions include vehicle design theory and structural reliability, rail transit system dynamics and vibration isolation and noise reduction, train operation safety assessment and new rail transit technology. On the discipline platforms of "transportation engineering" and "mechanical engineering", the national base has established the creative group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China for "the research into key scientific and technological issues on the safe high-speed train operation", the creative group of the Ministry of Education for "the modern railway vehicles and relevant technologies" & "the high-speed wheel-rail system theories and technologies", the creative group of the Ministry of Science and Technology for "the modern rail transit system dynamics", and the Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation of Rail Transit Engineering Dynamics.
