The 13th Chiao-Tung University Alumni Association in America Reunion Summit was convened in San Francisco from May 24 to 25. Gao Pingping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SWJTU Committee, attended the summit, and more than 500 global alumni who had graduated from five Jiaotong universities participated.
The summit was sponsored by the Chiao-Tung University Alumni Association in America, hosted by the Alumni Association in Northern California in collaboration with five institutions including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Beijing Jiaotong University, and Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.

During the “Dialogue with Alma Mater” session, Gao shared SWJTU’s reform initiatives and institutional achievements in talent cultivation, disciplinary advancement, technology innovation, and faculty development. He highlighted new ideas and actions of alumni engagement and graduate employment. Following the dialogue, on behalf of the University, Gao presented the Chiao-Tung University Alumni Association in America with a Sichuan embroidery artwork inscribed with the university motto “Si Shi Yang Hua” (Cultivating Talents to Rejuvenate the Chinese Nation and Persevering in Self-Improvement).

On the afternoon of May 24, the delegation led by Gao held a discussion with the Southwest Jiaotong University Alumni Association in America, alongside over 30 alumni representatives from Northern California, Southern California, New York, and other areas. Gao shared the latest institutional progress and alumni affairs, proposed to leverage the association platform for better communication and assistance, and delivered the University’s desire for the recruitment of prestigious talents. Alumni participants pledged to support the University and expressed the intent to expand collaboration with their alma mater.


Prior to the summit, Gao also visited Stevens Institute of Technology. Professor Jean Zu, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and Dean of the School of Engineering, gave an institutional introduction about Stevens Institute of Technology. Both parties discussed the implementation of the “3+2” Collaborative Dual-Degree Program. After the discussion, Gao met with Professor Bao Yi, an alumnus from the School of Civil Engineering, and visited the Smart Infrastructure Lab directed by Professor Bao Yi and Professor Meng Weina, exchanging insights on the latest research progress in the field of civil engineering.
