On the afternoon of July 7th, Southwest Jiaotong University launched on-line the Summer Internship 2020 and held Special Safety Training for students through live streaming.
Nearly 1,000 staff and students attended the virtual ceremony, including the heads of the internship projects at the relevant departments and different schools of the University, supervisors and leaders of university-level teams, etc.
This year, more than 400 teams consisting of about 2,000 teachers and students will participate in the summer internship project. To encourage students’ active engagement, certain financial support will be provided by the University, and teams and individuals excelling in performance will be given special awards and granted innovative practice credits. Against the backdrop of the epidemic, we made full use of both the online and offline platforms for the practice. In addition to the special training and compilation of Safety Manual for Summer Internship, the University, giving the safety top priority, established a task force for epidemic prevention and control to follow up the practices of teachers and students in real time.
Professor Shen Huoming, Deputy Secretary General of the CPC Party Committee of SWJTU, stressed in his speech at the launching ceremony that internship is an effective way for young students to “receive training, develop abilities and make contributions”. He aired his best wishes to the teachers and students involved, and hoped that they can be firm in belief, conscientious and dedicated in practice, and remain sound and safe during the whole process.
