As the winter is coming, a group of lovely people at the University are "scheming" against the freezing cold and "plotting" pleasant surprises for the students. They are preparing the gift package which would spread warmth and joy on the campus. Here begins “The Warm Winter Support”, a tradition of Southwest Jiaotong University.

Given the low temperature of this winter and the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Student Affairs selected and compared many combinations and eventually decided on the design of the heartwarming gift box.

Contained in the box are a custom-made scarf printed with black swans, the mascot of the University, a thermos cup with display of temperature, a heartwarming greeting card, face masks and a canvas handbag, bringing a little warmth and a lot more smiling faces on the campus.

In addition to the gift box, the university also provided living allowances for students from low-income families.

This year, the recipients are identified in an affectionate manner. The Student Aid Management Center and Graduate Education Management Department pinpointed students from the financial aid database and quietly sent the surprise gifts and touching messages to them before the arrival of the winter solstice.

Lei, an undergraduate at the School of Electrical Engineering, expressed her heartfelt thanks, “I feel the warmth and happiness after receiving the unexpected gift during the chilly days of winter. This is my fourth year at SWJTU, my second home. The University is always behind us, giving so much care and support. We will pass on the warmth and heart.”

“As a new student, I really appreciate what the teachers have done for me due to my inconvenience. They helped me complete the formalities for registration and accommodation. I feel the thoughtful kindness and warmth given by the university and my school, and I also receive love and care from the tutor, which makes me quickly adapt to the campus life in the new semester", said Zhong, a postgraduate from the School of Foreign Languages.

The living allowances totaling RMB 633,300 will be allocated to 1078 students. "Warm Winter Support" is a tradition of the university for 20 years. The love and care for students remain the same despite the changes in time and form of the gift packages.
