On December 20, Huang Wanyi, a sophomore majoring in English at the School of Foreign Languages, won the first prize, topping all the first-prize winners at the final of the 2020 “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” English Writing Contest. After the school-level preliminary and the provincial semi-final, she came to the fore among 90 contestants nationwide who progressed from nearly 250,000 participants, and Zhang Juyan, the tutor, was awarded the honorary title of “Excellent Tutor”.
The Competition is jointly sponsored by the Advisory Board for College Foreign Language Teaching of the Ministry of Education, the Steering Sub-Committee for Guidance in Teaching English at Colleges of the Ministry of Education, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, National Research Center for Foreign Language Education, and hosted by Beijing Waiyan Online Digital Technology Co., Ltd in collaboration with China Language Assessment.
Supported by the Dean’s Office, the competition supervising team at the School of Foreign Languages had made full preparation for the Competition, and organized multiple rounds and various forms of simulations and trainings against the backdrop of the prevention and control of epidemic. A total of 12 participants of the University progressed to the Uchallenge “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking, Writing and Reading Contests of Sichuan Province held on November 7 after the school-level preliminary and online examination, and competed with 288 contestants from other colleges and universities in Sichuan Province, winning in total 2 first prizes, 7 second prizes and 3 third prizes.
