Recently, a team composed of doctoral students from Southwest Jiaotong University, the first one of the nation, is established to assist the construction of Sichuan-Tibet Railway. The team includes more than 20 doctoral candidates from different disciplines and programmes and provides their social service from July 22 to 26 in Tibet.

Southwest Jiaotong University is one of the earliest institutions of higher education in China’s civil engineering and traffic engineering, with the most complete discipline system and comprehensive resources in the field of rail transit across the country. Located at the starting point of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, the University pioneers in the scientific research and engineering services for the Railway.

The Sichuan-Tibet Railway is characterized by complex topographic, geological and climatic conditions and fragile ecological environment, and is the most difficult super project in the human history of railway construction.

This team will visit the departments and companies engaged in the construction of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and provide technological services in accordance with the demands on site.
