The 2021 awards-winners list of the Higher Education Press Cup” (CUMCM) has been unveiled. Students from SWJTU have weathered through all rounds of selection before ranking first among the 45,075 teams. Finally, the students of the University lifted for the first time the “Higher Education Press Cup” trophy, the highest award for undergraduate contestants, 30 years after CUMCM was launched and 23 years after the award set up, marking a breakthrough of historical significance in the event. As the second one from Sichuan Region to win the prestigious award throughout the history of the Contest, SWJTU team also raked in three first prizes and three second prizes at the national level.

The Competition focused on “Robocrane of Smart Palletizer.” Contestants were required to design and manufacture a robocrane based on machine vision, which should be able to identify the items to be carried in specific colors and shapes in the fixed picking areas. Besides, the robocrane should also be capable of transporting the items from picking areas to stacking areas in accordance with the codes and in an autonomous and orderly manner.

The University has always been attaching great importance to the development of students’ innovative and practical competence and managed to build various platforms to heighten undergraduates’ awareness of innovation and career consciousness. As a result, students have made many remarkable achievements in recent years such as winning the first prize in the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia-East Continent Final.
