Prof. Zhou Zhongrong has been elected as vice president of the International Tribology Council (ITC), according to ITC website.

Founded in 1973, ITC enjoys a high reputation and has wide influence in the fields of engineering, materials, energy and transportation. According to the statistics, 20% of the world's total energy is consumed to overcome friction, and energy transformation will reduce energy losses caused by friction by more than 60%. The development of tribology is of great significance to the promotion of the double carbon strategy, pursuit of the green development concept, and acceleration of the industrial transformation and upgrading of the transportation and energy industry.

Professor Zhou returned to China from France in the 1990s, and now serves as the directorial member of the Tribology Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. He has been devoting himself to the groundbreaking research on science and technology innovation as well as talent cultivation of tribology. His interests of research include fretting wear and fretting fatigue, railway tribology, biotribology, and bionic tribology.
