SWJTU teams won 1 first prize, 9 second prizes and 20 third prizes, and the number of awards hit record high at the national final of the 13th Service Outsourcing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Chinese College Students (SOIEC) concluded in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on Aug 6. The University also received the “Excellent Organization Award”.

In the Western Regional Competition, 10 among the 63 projects of SWJTU teams were awarded the provincial first prize, 20 the second prize and 18 the third prize, and the winning rate for prizes at or above the provincial level reached 76%. The national first price was granted to the project of "FPGA-based Aluminum Surface Industrial Defect Detection System" led by Li Hua of the School of Information Science and Technology and Zhang Pengfei of the Office of Scientific Research and Development.

The University has so far participated in 12 competitions consecutively and won 11 first prizes and more than 60 second prizes.

As China’s only national-level competition in the service outsourcing industry, SOIEC has attracted nearly 500,000 candidates from over 1,600 universities and colleges across China since its inception in 2010. With focus on industrial practice, enterprises release at the competition the tasks based on real needs and require the participating teams to provide solutions, setting the benchmark for evaluating the quality of talents training in innovation and entrepreneurship in colleges and universities across the country. This year, a total of 7781 teams from 899 colleges and universities registered for the Competition, of which more than 3/4 were Double First-class universities. The competition was thus more intense with both its scale and number of entries reaching a new high.
