On March 10th, the "Think Tank for A Strong Province with New Industrialization and Advanced Manufacturing Industry" was officially launched at Southwest Jiaotong University, filling the university’s gap in scientific research and innovation platforms for provincial think tank.

Led by the Industrial Economic Development Research Institute of Sichuan Province, this think tank is formed by relevant researchers from the School of Economics and Management, the School of Public Administration, the School of Humanities, the School of Transportation and Logistics, and the School of Architecture. It will focus on policy research and decision-making consultation on the driving mechanism and routing of Sichuan's new industrialization, the innovation-driven and high-quality development of Sichuan's manufacturing industry, the creation of a modern industrial system with Sichuan characteristics, the enhancement of core competitiveness of Sichuan's manufacturing industry, the promotion of intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing, and service-oriented manufacturing in Sichuan, as well as establishment of an evaluation index system for a strong province with new industrialization and advanced manufacturing industry. These focuses manifest SWJTU’s development characteristics of the four discipline groups of "Science, Engineering, Management, and Liberal Arts" and its research advantages of the multi-disciplinary integration of industrial technology, engineering technology, information technology, and economic management. With its pool of wisdom, the university also contributes its own part to the development of Sichuan into a strong manufacturing province dominated by new industrialization.
