On June 5, the delegation led by Vice-President YAO Faming visited RWTH Aachen University in Germany.
As one of the leading universities in Europe in the field of science and technology, RWTH Aachen University has secured seven Nobel Prizes in the past 150 years since its foundation in 1870. Ranking 99th in the Times Higher Education (THE), it is also a member of the Union of German Universities of Technology (TU9) and one of the Universities of Excellence in Germany.
The delegation held in-depth discussion with Henriette Finsterbusch, Director of International Affairs, and Peter Hartges, Commissioner for China, on further cooperation between the two universities with.
At the Faculty of Civil Engineering, a symposium was held between the delegation and Prof. Nils Nießen, Vice Dean in Charge of Studies and Director of the Institute of Transport Science, and Prof. Christian Schindler, Executive Director of the Centre for Railway Research and Director of the Institute of Rail Vehicles and Transport Systems, and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation signed afterwards.
The delegation also visited the laboratories of the Institute for Traffic Science, the Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives (ISEA) and the Institute for Rail Vehicles and Transport Systems at RWTH Aachen.
