2023-07-12

Prof. GAO Feng’s research team from the School of Life Science and Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, recently published online a paper in Angewandte Chemie International Edition (IF =16.823), the internationally top journal in the field of natural medicine chemistry, and this paper unveiled the isolation and identification, biomimetic total synthesis and neuroprotective effects of an unprecedented sesquiterpene.

Adenophorone (1) (Figure 1), the unprecedented sesquiterpene with a cage-like tricyclo [4.1. 05, 9] decane structure, was first discovered by Prof. Gao’s team from the leaves of Eupatorium adenophorone Spreng. The structure of this new sesquiterpene was identified by NMR and X-Ray, and the asymmetric total synthesis of this new compound was completed efficiently based on bionic strategy.
