Prof. Wang Ping Won the Science and Technology Progress Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation
As a commendation for his remarkable contributions in transportation technology, Prof. Wang Ping received the Science and Technology Progress Award at the 2023 awards ceremony of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation (HLHL) held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse (DSG) in Beijing on Dec. 19. Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 20th CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the event and delivered a speech.
The Foundation was established in 1994 by Ho Sin Hang (He Shanheng), Leung Kau-Kui (Liang Qiuju), Ho Tim (He Tian), and Lee Quo-wei (Li Guowei), Hong Kong-based patriotic financiers. It is founded to bestow prizes upon Chinese scientists and researchers with outstanding achievements, and has now become a highly authoritative and prestigious non-government award covering a wide range of fields in China. In 2023, HLHL awarded its Science and Technology Awards to a total of 56 outstanding scientists and researchers.
Prof. Wang is an awardee of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Director of the Key Laboratory of High-Speed Railway Line Engineering of the Ministry of Education. He has been long focusing on research in urban rail and high-speed and heavy-haul rail engineering, bearing major fruits of breakthroughs in the dynamic design methods of rail structures of high-speed railway, theoretical innovation in railway maintenance, and independent research and development of key structures.
