On June 24, the 2023 National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People, where SWJTU raked in three awards including a Second Prize of State Technological Invention Award for the project of “Key Technology and Application of 350km/h High-speed Railway Turnout Structure” presided over by Professor Wang Ping, a Special Prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress Award for “Fuxing High-speed Train” partaken by Professor Zhang Weihua, and a Second Prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress Award for “State Evolution and Scientific Maintenance Technology of High-speed Railway Track System under Complex Operating Conditions” with the participation of Professor Ren Juanjuan.
Issued at the conference were two State Preeminent Science and Technology Awards, 10 China International Science and Technology Cooperation Awards and 250 State Science and Technology Awards. The 250 awards granted included 49 State Natural Science Awards, 62 State Technological Invention Awards, and 139 State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards.
The second prize of Professor Ping Wang’s team is added to SWJTU’s two State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards in 2015 and 2016 respectively, which is another achievement in major national scientific and technological awards.
The Special Prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress Award to Professor Zhang Weihua in high-speed trains highlights the contribution of SWJTU to the development of high-speed railways in addition to Zhang’s previous Special Prize for the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway Project.
