Experts and scholars from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies met at the APEC Workshop on Green Vocational Skills on September 19 in Chengdu to share experiences and explore pathways for the future development of green vocational skills. The Forum was hosted by Southwest Jiaotong University in collaboration with Chinese Academy of Personnel Science (CAPS), and President Yan Xuedong delivered a speech at the Workshop.
At the four panel sessions of the Workshop, participants discussed on the key topics of "Green Skills and the Labor Market", "Inclusive Development of Green Skills", "Certification and Standards for Green Skills", and "International Cooperation in Developing Green Skills" respectively, focusing on the major achievements of CAPS’ project sponsored by the APEC Sub-fund on Combating COVID-19 and Economic Recovery (CCER).
President Yan reported that Southwest Jiaotong University had continuously strived to advance innovation and practical applications in green transportation and energy-saving technologies. Over the past few years, the University has concentrated its prestigious resources in critical areas like green transportation, intelligent transportation systems, and renewable energy, pushing for the deep integration of green technology with engineering applications. He indicated that the Workshop not only offered a platform for the exchange of experiences in green vocational skills development across APEC economies but also infused fresh momentum into the pursuit of the APEC Putrajaya Vision for global green and sustainable development. Yan expressed his hopes to promote the development of green vocational skills through enhanced international cooperation and to provide strong support for the transformation and sustainable growth of regional economies. The University will continue to advance extensive application of green vocational skills in sectors such as transportation and energy, and collaborate with its partners in addressing global climate change challenges, contributing to the cause of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
