1 Student Visa

Students should apply for a visa to study in China at the Chinese embassy, or consulate general, with the original documents and one set of photocopies of the Admission Notice, Visa Application to study in China (JW201/202), Foreigner Physical Examination Form (For those who will need to apply for X1), and a valid passport. Those who will study in China more than 6 months need to apply for X1 visa. Those who will study in China less than 6 months (including 6 months) need to apply for X2 visa. Students must enter China and register at SWJTU with the above original documents. Those who enter China with X1 visa must apply for the residence permit within 30 days upon their arrival.

2 Health Verification and Residence Permit (study in China more than 180 days)

Step1---Accommodation Registration

All international students (no matter how long you stay in China) must go through the accommodation registration at a local police station within 24 hours of entry. The local police station will give you the Accommodation Registration Receipt, which is needed when you apply your residence permit.

l Recommendation Letter

(given by SIE office, Administration Building No.427 office in Xipu campus; No,13 Juanchengzhai students dormitory, Gate 2, No. 177 SIE office in Jiuli campus)

● the current passport

● the copy of passport information page, visa page and entry page

Step2---Foreigner Physical Examination

Students who stay in China for more than 180 daysare required to bring their passports, Admission Notice and an original Foreigner Physical Examination Form to Sichuan International Travel Health Care Center. The fee is about 600RMB/person. Those who refuse to re-take the physical examination or are diagnosed with diseases that are not permitted to enter China according to the Chinese laws and regulations will be required to leave China.

Note: Please do not eat and drink after you get up because a blood test is required.

Step3---Residence Permit

After you get the result of the physical examination, students must apply for their residence permit to Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of Chengdu Public Security Bureau. Expenses incurred in the procedures above shall be paid by the international students themselves.

● a photocopy of your passport and your visa

● 3 one inch photos

● Yellow page of JW201/202(given by ISO)

● Contact Card (given by SIE)

● Recommendation letter (given by SIE)

● Accommodation Register Receipt (given by local police station)

● Physical Examination Result (it is unnecessary for the students who will stay here within one year)

● Cash (400RMB for one year and 800RMB for more than one year; the fee will be changed according to the notice of Chengdu Exit-Entry Administration Department)

You HAVE TO go to local police station with your passport again to renew your register after you get your new residence permit. Then please submit one photocopy of your new residence permit to SIE office.

International students must leave China before their visa expires. Those who cannot leave on time MUST extend their visa in visa application counters in Chengdu.

International students have to apply for their new visa ONE MONTH before the visa expiration.

3 Visa or Residence Permit Extension

Students who need to extend your visa or residence permit, please take your passport to the SIE Office 30 DAYS in advance before your visa or residence permit is going to expire. Usually，we will give you valid visa or residence permit till July 15, Oct. 15 or Jan. 15 each year.

CSC full scholarship students: Please take your passport to the SIE office to get the recommendation letter and contact card.

Self-supported students and other students: please pay tuition, accommodation fee, insurance fee of next academic year first and then take the receipt and your passport to the SIE office to get the recommendation letter and contact card.

4 Part-time Job

Please read theRegulation on the Administration of Work-study for International Students of SWJTU on ISO website http://iso.swjtu.edu.cn/.

5 Change Passport

Please contact your embassy or consulate to change a new passport if your current passport is going to expire. After you get the new passport, please take it to the SIE office and get a recommendation letter then update and transfer your residence permit to your new passport within 10 days at Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of Chengdu Public Security Bureau. If you do not transfer your residence permit on your new passport within 10 days, you will get fine.
