SWJTU granted grand Prize at the CAR-ASHRAE Competition

Following fierce contentions, the SWJTU team composed of Lin Chen, Zhang Jidan, Zhang Ming, and Chen Chen from the Programme of Building Environment and Energy Engineering at the School of Mechanical Engineering beat the other seven teams and won the only grand prize in China Division of the 2020 CAR-ASHRAE Student Design Project Competition.

On April 8, 2021, the winning team was invited to attend the Award Ceremony held by Chinese Association of Refrigeration in Shanghai with their instructors, Professor Lei Bo and Dr. Yu Tao. They went on stage to receive the award from academician Jiang Yi of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and delivered their acceptance speeches.

The CAR-ASHRAE Student Design Project Competition is jointly organized by Chinese Association of Refrigeration (CAR), American Society of Heating,Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers(ASHRAE), and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China, and solely sponsored by Johnson Controls. Open specially to students from the Programme of Building Environment and Energy Engineering and other relevant ones in China, it is an important and authoritative national discipline competition in this field besides the "National Award of Artificial Environment Engineering in Colleges and Universities ".

Up to 2020, the CAR-ASHRAE Student Design Project Competition had been successfully held for 12 times. This is the third time that students from our University has won the grand prize (the first in 2012 and the second in 2017).
