First Prize at the 10th National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students

From October 9th to 14th, the team composed of Zhang Xiaolu, Yan Yifan, Gao Yibo from the Programme of Materials at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, under the guidance of Profs. Wang Lianghui, Chen Dazhi and Liu Yan, succeeded in securing one national first prize, two second prizes and a group third prize at the 10th National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students held at the Minhang Campus, Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Sponsored by the Steering Committee for Teaching Materials in Higher Education Schools of the Ministry of Education in 2012, the National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students has become an event with the highest standards, most robust system, widest coverage, and greatest influence in the materials field.

In this Competition, the organizing committee specifically paid tribute to those who have made outstanding contributions to the event. Professor Wang Lianghui was awarded “First Class Medal of Honor” of the 10th anniversary of the National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students for his outstanding contributions such as leading teams to participate in this Competition for seven consecutive years, sponsoring and organizing the Sichuan Metallographic Skills Competition for three consecutive years, and actively enlisting the provincial competition into the ranking of undergraduate student discipline competitions published by the Department of Education of Sichuan Provincial Government. Professor Gao Guoqing was awarded the “Second Class Medal of Honor”.
