Jointly sponsored by Southwest Jiaotong University and Southwest Jiaotong University Chengdu Design Institute Co., Ltd., the 10th International Conference on Advances in Steel Structures (ICASS’2020) was held in Chengdu from August 21 to 23.

As one of the most influential international academic conferences on steel structure since 1996, ICASS is held every two or three years. The last session was held in Hong Kong at the end of 2018, at which the team from the School of Civil Engineering led by Professor Yu Zhixiang was entrusted by the conference initiator Professor Chen Shaoli to host the next session.

On August 22, the opening ceremony was held both offline and online. The Conference staged 13 keynote speeches by Academician Yue Qingrui of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Ronald D. Ziemian of Bucknell University, Professor Todd A. Helwig of the University of Texas, Professor Yu Zhixiang of Southwest Jiaotong University, etc. Besides, 143 reports were presented at different parallel sessions, with more than 200 participants and other online representatives from over 20 countries and regions, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, India and Egypt. A total of more than 60 faculty and students from the University attended and spoke at this Conference. The Conference included more than 110 excellent academic papers, and over 25,000 people watched the online live broadcast.
