According to IEEE Photonics Society, Li Peng, a doctoral candidate enrolled in 2016 at the School of Information Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, was granted the 2022 Graduate Student Fellowship. Li is a member of Information Photonics and Communication Research Team supervised by Professor Yan Lianshan.  

Established in 1999, IEEE Photonics Society Graduate Student Fellowship is IEEE's top award fo rPh. D. candidates who have excelled in academic performance inthe field of optics and photonics. Each year, IEEE Photonics Society selects 10 recipients in the related fields from applicants around the world.

Li Peng is the second winner of the Honour at the University afterJiang Hengyun from the School of Information Science and Technology, a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Prof.Yan Lianshan, who received the award in 2015.

Li Peng is mainly engaged in microwave photonics research, and he went to the University of Ottawa, Canada for a joint Ph. D. programme in the Microwave Photonics Research Laboratory under the support of the China Scholarship Council. During his PhD studies, he has published more than 20 papers in top international journals, including 10 first-authored papers in SCI Zone I/II journals (Optics Letters, Journal of Lightwave Technology,Optics Express, etc.) and 3 papers at top conferences (OFC/MWP).
