Online meeting with the University of Leeds

Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) and the University of Leeds (Leeds) held an online meeting on Nov. 16, during which Yao Faming, Vice President of SWJTU, and Professor Hai-Sui Yu, Vice-Chancellor of Leeds, shared the latest development update of the two Universities and the achievements of SWJTU-Leeds Joint School in the delivery of different programmes, and discussed such topics as the revision of the Collaboration Agreement Relating to the Establishment of the SWJTU-LEEDS Joint School and cooperation in researches.

Yao first reviewed the achievements of the Joint School in the development of faculty and students and the social influence of the School, reported on the progress of SWJTU in "Double First-Class" development, discipline structure optimization, as well as campus construction of the Institute of Smart City and Intelligent Transportation. He highlighted that with the close cooperation and unreserved support of the two Universities, the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School has been moving steadfastly forward, laying a solid foundation for the future expansion in different fields of cooperation.

Professor Yu congratulated SWJTU and the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School on their attainments, and said that Simone Buitendijk, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds, would lead a team to visit SWJTU in 2023. During the meeting, he introduced the latest progress of Leeds, and confirmed that Leeds will continue to further the cooperation with SWJTU and provide more support towards such an end as SWJTU is one among the five global strategic partners of Leeds. He hoped that the two Universities, through the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School, would further the cooperation in scientific researches.

Attendees of the meeting included officials from the Faculty of Engineering and the International Office of Leeds, as well as the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges and the SWJTU-Leeds Joint School of SWJTU.
