The Tan Kah Kee Science Award Foundation recently released the list of recipients of the Tan Kah Kee Science Awards (TKK Science Awards) and Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Awards (TKK Young Scientist Awards) for the year 2022.
After several rounds of rigorous screening and appraisal by the awarding panels and with the approval of the Foundation’s Council Board, TKK Science Awards were given to six research achievements covering “Complex Differential Geometry and its Application”, and six scholars including Wei Wei secured the TKK Young Scientist Awards 2022.
For the first time in the history of the University, Zhai Wanming, academician, won the TKK Science Award in Technological Sciences for his innovative work on “Vehicle-Track Coupled Dynamics”. Zhai is also the first winner in the field of transportation engineering of the whole country.
Derived from the former Tan Kah Kee Awards, the Science Awards were named after Mr. Tan Kah Kee (1874-1961), a well-known overseas Chinese leader who had remarkably contributed to the development of science and education in China. The Awards, being entrusted to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for its management and evaluation, were set up to honor prominent Chinese scientists who have made major original science and technology achievements, and enjoy a high reputation in the Chinese academic circle.
The Awards are presented in six fields: mathematics and physics, chemistry, life sciences, earth sciences, information sciences and technological sciences. The Awards are selected every two years and only one award may be granted in each field.
