A delegation headed by Professor Zhu Minhao, chair professor at SWJTU and Dean of the Institute of Traffic Safety Technology, went to Laos to discuss Sino-Lao cooperation in standards and metrology from May 28 to 31, and witnessed the technical approval of The Standard for Basic Terms of Railway Engineering, Laos’ first national railroad standard developed by SWJTU’s technical team.

During the visit, the delegation held discussions with the president of National University of Laos, and officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Laos, the Laos-China Cooperation Committee, the Railway Department of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Laos, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Laos-China Railway Company.

The delegation also visited the National University of Laos and discussed issues concerning the cooperation on the development of laboratory and railway programmes, talent cultivation, and skills training.
